RESEARCH INTERESTS
Macrophage lineage cells are critical to much pathology, as well as being significant in host defence against infection or injury. They adopt many phenotypes depending on the required function. My research endeavours to describe at a molecular level the processes governing their development and function, particularly in the context of the tissue damage and repair present at sites of chronic inflammation. My studies include the roles of two key cytokines, CSF-1 (M-CSF) and GM-CSF, with arthritis being the major disease paradigm. Approaches include an analysis of human disease material, as well as in vivo models, genomics, proteomics and systems biology
